My Daily Run: A New Beginning
I love running! It's a sport that I can move at my own pace and go wherever I want to. I ran cross country in high school. While I wasn't the star of the team, I really loved the feeling of satisfaction that I got when I finished a race (regardless of my apparently atrocious 23 minute two mile).
As I've gotten older, running as become more of a selfish hobby of mine. I only do it when I feel like I'm getting fat, or I need to get away from the family to decompress. (Naturally, no one in the house likes to run.) I've never had any other purpose than my own selfish reasons. Well I've decided to change all that. I've decided to run for a cause.
The last time I saw my sister, Amanda, she had shaved her head. At first, I thought it was another one of her weird Crossfit things. Then, she explained that she'd participated in a Shavetember event for St. Baldrick's Foundation. It was a lot of fun for her, and she was really very passionate about the cause. It peaked my interest. So, when I found out that they were having a charity run here is Las Vegas, I jumped at the chance to participate and at the same time compete in my first 5k event as a tax paying adult. I'm super jazzed about this. I even found a training schedule that I like.
